So, I couldn’t watch this video yesterday but this morning, I have seen it like 5 times now & I’m yet to come to terms with the outrage that followed. Honestly, I’m seated here, trying so hard to understand what triggered the anger I read here yesterday & it is amusing to me.

"Nigeria will never become the fulani Republic" – Pastor Paul Adefarasin. pic.twitter.com/Hbf2nj0zsq

— Chief Perkins (@poabaje) July 1, 2018

I mean, the outrage is nowhere commensurate to what Adefarasin said. Maybe, there’s another version of this video that was seen, that I’m yet to come across. But, if this is all what the outrage was all about, then I’m sorry, you people are not serious. 😂😂😂
There are 2 things I picked from that speech; CONSPIRACY THEORY (which I believe is debatable) & HISTORY.

There’s a conspiracy theory that suggests a Fulani invasion of Nigeria. While this modern day theory is debatable, history has shown the possibility.

I’d assume those lashing out at Adefarasin are people who are averse to reading, especially history. I really don’t want to go into details on the emergence & prominence of Fulani’s in Northern Nigeria. Those who know, know.
Even if they won’t talk, they know. That, I’m sure of.
The name Usman Dan Fodio, that was mentioned in the video. LOL, people should take time out and read about him. Nothing personal, honestly. Just accumulate & assimilate knowledge about the man & maybe you’ll see beyond your noses.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usman_dan…

Whatever you find in your quest for knowledge about the Fulanis, is backed up with facts that remain in museums in Kano & Sokoto, both if which, I’ve visited.

Nothing explains the wanton destruction of human lives & properties in their own land, other than an invasion. Only rational & logical, with reference to history, which can also be read here: encyclopedia.com/social-science…

And the response of the government, makes it worse.

I remember the story in a Macmillian English textbook I read while in primary school, which gave a brief insight into Fulani history, Usman Dan Fodio, Islam, Jihad, Invasion & Occupation in Nigeria.

If you have this knowledge, you’d be able to comprehend Adefarasin’s speech.

Is Adefarasin wrong? Maybe.
Is History lying? No.
Is the Conspiracy Theory true? I would not believe so but the inaction & the responsiveness of the government to the destruction of human lives across Nigeria, especially in the middle-belt, is beginning to make it look true.
You know that when a lie is not checked, it festers & in turn, becomes a legend. Most of us really believed that Nigeria was beaten 100-1 by India in a football match until some years ago.

See how that lie became truth over a period of time? You see?

Was it not just last year, we discovered that ‘Janglova’ is actually ‘Jingle Over’ after decades of singing the nursery rhyme?

That is the danger embedded in inaction. Violent attacks here, Violent attacks there, government folds it arms, allowing hate to spread. *Shrugs*

It got so bad that Vanguard reported: “Herdsmen Rename Communities Grabbed From Indigenes.” Read here:

Plateau shocker: Herdsmen rename communities grabbed from indigenes – Vanguard News When the alarm was raised, many thought it was false, some were complacent, calling it an ethnic crisis. But bit by bit, the fear became a reality; the subtle attacks which began over a decade ago ha… https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/06/plateau-shocker-herdsmen-rename-communities-grabbed-indigenes/

And, you expect people to not believe that there’s an agenda, especially when you consider what history said about Fulani invasion & occupation?

See, let us be honest with each other. Adefarasin was talking about a Conspiracy Theory which is full backed by History. He took us back in time & I think that is nothing compared to the incitement being preached by the failure of the Nigerian Government to ensure peace.
You claim Adefarasin was inciting a war. What is more inciting than the absence of justice in a society? You think Adefarasin’s church members will pick up guns and fight because of what he said? How about we talk about the decades of injustice in this country? That is inciting!
There is nothing more inciting than watching a group of bandits walk into your village, kill men, women & children & then walk away, unchallenged, unperturbed, waiting for the next village to strike.

Like, what can be more inciting and annoying than that? Do you people think?

Bawa, a ruler of Gobir, invited Dan Fodio to Gobir in 1774; Dan Fodio settled but wasn’t in agreement with Bawa’s style of government, so he challenged Bawa, which led to his (Dan Fodio’s) exile from Gobir.

Bad guy Dan Fodio raised an army & went back to Gobir to invade it. 😂

I really don’t want to go into that history honestly but it is a fact that the Hausas in Northern Nigeria were overran by Fulanis. They invaded & occupied Hausa territories. They established caliphates & became prominent with running the affairs of the captured territories.
This right here is history & somehow, it is looking like Dejavu all over again. The only thing that can stop this theory is for the government to sit up to its responsibility not the bashing of Adefarasin. That won’t change anything.

It is a narrative, conquer it with action!

The trajectory of the problems we have currently in Nigeria is the failure of visionary & purposeful leadership.
Imagine, centuries after the conquest of Hausaland which happened in 1804, residues of same is still seen in 2018 & you think people should not speak up? Smh!
Maybe, Adefarasin is just paranoid. Maybe, you’re just being politically correct. One thing we cannot deny is that we have a huge problem and our actions suggests that the problem will only get worse but we are here yelling at a man for pouring out his paranoia? WOW!!!
Kwara state is a vivid example of this encroachment/invasion issue. We either tackle the killings now and put an end to the conspiracy theory or we watch it slowly become a reality. The call is ours, the job is for the President & his fellow public office holders!
The narratives on the streets is even worse than anything Adefarasin had said. Go to newspaper stands, you will choke on disbelief at what people are saying about the President and Herdsmen.

The President needs to do what he needs to do and fast before all hell is let loose.

Years upon years of injustice and we think Adefarasin’s speech is the problem? As long as the violence continues & there’s no justice & the government keeps sitting on security votes without really securing the citizens, people will continue to talk & the talk may become action!
See the point where Adefarasin talked about history being wiped out, he was telling the truth and that is it, the whole truth brethren. You will only disagree with his perspective because you’re a victim of the systematic expulsion of history from the educational curriculum.
The government has a responsibility to perform, it should do its job. We cannot be chasing symptoms while ignoring the root cause.

We like to hide our wounds & scars behind cosmetics instead of proper healing & that is why it seems no problem has ever been solved.

I’m tired of typing honestly. You guys need to do better. Read more, especially on historical topics. It helps you understand where some perspectives are coming from. Let Adefarasin breath. Our focus should be on the government to end the spate of violence & ensure justice!
From Femi Adesina playing catch-up with PDP over the number of casualties of their own failures, to videos of Herdsmen grazing their animals on the premises of the National Assembly.

People are seeing these things & they, in turn, reinforce the conspiracy theory. Honestly!

Like for real, communities that have been displaced by suspected Fulanis, are being renamed; Rotchun (renamed “Rafin Acha”), Dankum (renamed “Mahanga”), Hywa (renamed “Lugere”), Fass (renamed “Tafawa”) according to @Vanguard Read here: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/06/plateau-shocker-herdsmen-rename-communities-grabbed-indigenes/

And, we want to sit down & just look? Nah!

We’ve seen this happen well. Turkey is an example. Turkey was the birthplace of many Christian Apostles like; Paul of Tarsus, Timothy, Nicholas of Myra. At the time Christians were 20-25 % of the Turkish population.

Today, just 0.4% Christians make up the Turkish population.

In Argentina, Black people were systematically wiped out. Even though, 4% – 6% of Argentines have African genes, just a tiny fraction of the people there are aware of their country’s African roots.

Let us learn from history and drop our political correctness on this issue!
