African Union’s APRM holds planning meeting, set to host Africa Migration Conference in November.
The African Union’s African Peer Review Mechanism – APRM, a mutually agreed instrument, voluntarily acceded to by member states of the African Union as a self-monitoring mechanism held a planning meeting on the Africa Migration Conference themed: Towards an Enhanced Migration Governance Regime in Africa.
The planning meeting which was held in Midrand, South Africa, at the AUDA-NEPAD office, had amongst its discussion, the conference agenda, dates, participation, speakers & logistics amongst others.
The proposed conference, which is slated to take place in November 2019, will seek to provide a forum for peer learning and experience sharing among African Union Member States.
Furthermore, the conference will seek to popularize existing instruments of the African Union which aim to promote free movement & regional integration for a peaceful and prosperous Africa.
The conference will also discuss measures that could be employed to assist African Governments to address the challenges they grapple with as they seek to fully embrace the provisions of the Continental Free Movement Protocol, which is one of the key priorities of Africa´s Agenda 2063 and a flagship project for the continent.
